AI now writes in patient records. Keep a clinician in charge.
AI tools now draft notes, orders, discharge summaries and claims. Google Cloud says Manipal’s AI nurse handovers are live in 23 of its hospitals1, and Epic’s AI Charting “queues up orders”.2 Neither uses Deedglass. Deedglass is software you run on your own servers, between those AI tools and your HIS.
What it does
- Holds the changes that matter. Orders, medicines, allergies, the problem list and final notes wait for a clinician. Claims need two different people.3
- Checks the record. After saving, it reads the record back and compares it line by line. If a line differs, it says “Doesn’t match” and names it. It is not a clinical check.4
- Seals a record of each step. Which AI acted, under which rule, who approved and when, and what the check found.5 Your auditor can check it offline, without us.6
- Stops AI agents in one go. One switch refuses all new actions from agents that go through Deedglass, within 2 seconds.7
What it doesn’t do
- It makes no clinical decisions. It doesn’t diagnose, recommend treatment or prioritise patients.
- It sees only AI actions sent through it, not AI built into your HIS.
- It doesn’t make you meet any law or standard. It gives you records to use as evidence.
- No SOC 2 report or ISO 27001 audit yet, and no SSO yet.8
Does it fit your HIS?
A sealed record, for example
- What
- Discharge summary, Bed 5 (test patient)
- AI agent
- AI discharge assistant
- Rule
- final-notes-need-clinician, version 3
- Decision
- Approved by Dr. N. Shah, consultant
- Asked, decided
- 19 Oct 2026, 10:02 and 10:09 IST
- Saved in
- Discharge summary DS-771, version 1
- Check
- Checked: saved as approved
- Patient
- A fingerprint only; your HIS holds the UHID
- Request
- sha256:5b7a19…c4e03f
In India
- ABDM
- Deedglass isn’t part of the consent flow, and doesn’t check consent artefacts.3
- NABH digital health
- DIS.2(d) asks for a system that “captures the audit trails of each transaction”.9 Deedglass adds a trail for AI actions; it doesn’t replace your HIS trail.
- DPDP Rules
- Logs kept for a year, from May 2027.10 Sealed records are never cleared; keep full requests only as long as you need.6
- Data in India
- It runs on your servers and sends us nothing by default.6 Without PHI mode, approval emails carry the request.
A pilot
One workflow on one ward, on test data first, on your servers. We set the rules with you and check in each week. Switch it off at any time: your sealed records stay with you. Coming next, with no date promised: clinician approver groups and SSO.3
Who is responsible stays the same. A record shows who approved what, and when. It doesn’t move responsibility from the hospital, clinician or AI vendor. Not legal advice.
