What's new in Deedglass 0.15.0: one command, and an app opens in your browser

Deedglass now opens as a simple app in your browser, with no Docker, account or database to set up. Here is how to open it, what each screen means, where your data stays and how to stop it.

The short answer

Deedglass 0.15.0 came out on 28 October 2026. You type one line, npx deedglass, and Deedglass opens in your browser on your own computer. You are already signed in. You don’t need Docker, an account or a database.1

The app has three places: what your AI agents did, what is waiting for you to approve, and locked records you can check later.3 Your records stay on your computer.2

Deedglass runs on your own servers with your own Postgres. Every feature is free while we grow, so nothing checks a licence and, by default, nothing is sent to deedglass.com.

What Deedglass is

AI tools now do real work: they draft notes, change records and run commands. Deedglass sits between those tools and your systems. It shows each action in plain words. It holds the important ones until a person says yes. And it locks a record of each action, so you can check later that nobody changed it.

Deedglass makes no clinical decisions. It doesn’t judge whether a note or an order is right. That stays with the doctor, dentist or nurse.

How to open it

You need Node 18 or later on the computer. Node brings a small tool called npx. It works on macOS, Linux and Windows.4

  1. On a Mac, open Terminal. On Windows, open PowerShell.
  2. Paste this line and press Enter:

Code Commands typed in a terminal. The text around it says what happens.

npx deedglass
  1. Your browser opens on Deedglass, signed in.1

If your hospital’s IT team looks after your computer, ask them to do this the first time. It takes one line, and they can read what it does on the install page.

The first few minutes

The app first asks who will use it here: someone who runs a clinic, someone who builds with AI, or someone who runs hospital IT. Your answer only changes what you see first.3

Then comes Connect. You pick the AI tools and systems you use: Claude Desktop, Cursor, VS Code, coding agents in a terminal, ChatGPT or OpenAI agents, an AI scribe or FHIR record system, or a Postgres database. Each one takes a click or one copied line. No link, code or QR code on that screen holds a password or key.3

The Simple view: three places

The Simple view is for everyday use. It has three places.3

What agents did. Every action your AI agents took, in plain words, newest first. It updates live. For example, “Changed a note” or “Read a table”.

Waiting for you. Changes an AI wants to make that need a person. Nothing is saved until a person approves it. You can approve it or send it back.

Locked records. Every action is locked the moment it happens. You can check any record to see that no one has changed it since.

The Detailed view, for IT

A switch changes between Simple and Detailed. The Detailed view is the full Deedglass Console: agents, records, rules and the technical detail behind each one. It is there for IT teams and developers. Clinicians can stay in the Simple view.3

Where your data stays

The app answers only on your own computer, at the address 127.0.0.1:4180, or another free port if that one is taken. The sign-in link works once, on that computer.2

Your records live in the app’s own folder on your computer:

  • on a Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/Deedglass
  • on Linux: ~/.config/deedglass
  • on Windows: %AppData%\Deedglass

The app keeps its data in its own private PostgreSQL database. If the computer already has PostgreSQL 16 or newer, it uses that. If not, the first run downloads PostgreSQL 18.6 once, between 15 and 71 MB, and checks it against a fixed fingerprint. After that it works offline.2

How to stop it

  • Press Ctrl+C in the window where you typed the command.
  • Or, from another window, type npx deedglass app --stop.2

Your data stays for next time. Type npx deedglass again and your records are still there. To see whether it is running, and where its data is, type npx deedglass app --status. To delete everything and start again, npx deedglass app --reset asks first.2

For developers

The terminal is still here. deedglass help now shows eight everyday commands, and deedglass help all shows every one. While the app runs, CLI commands such as deedglass approvals list reach it with no extra flags.2

The full list of changes, including the new local routes behind the Connect screen, is in the 0.15.0 release notes. Records made with earlier versions are unchanged.1

Common questions

Do I need to know how to use a terminal? Only for one line. You open Terminal or PowerShell, paste npx deedglass and press Enter. Everything after that happens in your browser.1

Does it need the internet? The first run may download PostgreSQL once, if the computer doesn’t already have version 16 or newer. After that it works offline.2

Can other people see my records? The app answers only on the computer where you started it, and the sign-in link works once, on that computer.2 Someone at another desk can’t open it from their browser.

Does Deedglass decide anything about patients? No. It shows what an AI tool did, holds the changes you choose for a person, and keeps a record. The clinical decision stays with you.

Which tools can I connect? Claude Desktop, Cursor, VS Code, coding agents in a terminal, ChatGPT or OpenAI agents, an AI scribe or FHIR record system, and Postgres databases.3 The Connect screen shows the steps for each one.

Other ways to try it

You don’t have to install anything to see the idea. The playground runs in a browser tab: it shows an agent’s change being checked, caught and put back, on made-up data.

If you build with AI tools, npx deedglass scan grades what the agents on your computer can reach, read-only, and sends nothing anywhere. What the grade means explains each letter.

What isn’t here yet

  • The app runs on one computer. A version that colleagues open from across the hospital network isn’t here yet.2
  • The database tile works with Postgres. MySQL isn’t supported yet.3
  • On Windows the app runs through npx, with no WSL needed. We have built and documented it for Windows, and we would like to hear how it goes on your machine.4

If you try it at a clinic or hospital, tell us what was hard. That is how the next version gets simpler.

The takeaway

In 0.15.0, npx deedglass opens Deedglass in your browser on your own computer: what agents did, what waits for you, and locked records you can check.

Read nextAI agents are writing to patient records. Who checks what they changed? Try it: install in 7 s
